Festival Fashion Series 2017 – 3/3

Here is the final look of my festival fashion series! These feather hem vintage Levi’s were the jeans that inspired this series. I found these at my favorite buy, sell, trade store, Arizona Trading Company- where I find all of my unique pieces. I paired them with this white lace crop top that I bought literally five years ago from Topshop. It’s one of my favorite tops and I knew they were the perfect match for the jeans.

I hope you all enjoyed this festival fashion series, I had so much fun putting these outfits together. I’m just sad that I’m not going to any festivals anytime soon!

In case you miss them…. Part 1 and Part 2.

Festival Fashion Series 2017 – 2/3

This is the second part of my festival fashion series and probably my favorite look out of the three. I bought this white flowy midi dress at Free People on clearance this past Winter and have been impatiently waiting for the weather to warm up to shoot it for Summer! It is so unique in every way; from the uneven hem, the side crochet cut outs, and the seashells on the end of the drawstrings. This dress is definitely one of my favorite pieces.

Since this dress is so airy and feminine, of course I had to contradict that by pairing it with some heavy, chunky platform sandals and a studded hat. I don’t think it is too much of a contrast to look bad but, just enough to look good. As much as I love these Jeffrey Campbell shoes, I feel like I don’t feature them as much as I should. They are so unique with the gold lion medallion that I couldn’t find a similar alternative 😦 (Okay affordable alternative…Versace is the designer to rely on for lion head medallions).

Stay tuned for the third look of this series coming soon!

Festival Fashion 2017 Series – 1/3

Festival season is well upon us and everyone loves festival fashion so I am going to do a three part music festival style inspired series! I am unfortunately not going to any huge music festivals as of now but I’m maybe hoping to attend a smaller one sometime this Summer.

For this look, my top and bottoms are basic but I threw on a bunch of accessories and a statement kimono. Fringe is definitely a huge trend within festival fashion and this kimono is perfect for lots of movement! I shot some with and without it because I liked the simplistic look underneath as well.

This is the perfect outdoor concert outfit. I actually wore it this past Tuesday to see The 1975! It was such a good show and I was comfortable and felt cute in this outfit the whole time. Also side note- these shorts to me at first were so ugly but now I am in love with how vintage they look + they were only $1 at a thrift store!!!

Be sure to follow me to be notified when the next two outfits of this series are up!

Flyover Fashion Fest 2017 – Day 2

Hey all! So Flyover Fashion Fest Day two was even better than day one! There were tons of different events happening all throughout the day and I managed to attend a couple without completely wearing myself out. Iowa Fashion Project brought in some seriously successful and talented individuals.

I got the amazing opportunity to go to three discussions throughout this day. First I heard Marissa Muller, editor at Conde Nast, speak on politics in the fashion industry. She brought up so many good points that people often look past. Next, former head art director at Nasty Gal, Sarah Kissel, came and talked about her journey from the Midwest to the Coasts. This woman has so much experience and is an incredible graphic designer and director. Last, but most definitely not least, activist and journalist, Noor Tagouri, spoke on fashion identity and told her life story. No matter what your beliefs are, this woman will make you smile and inspire you. She is so kind-hearted and down to earth (and also hilarious). She is an advocate for all women and people and wants their stories to be heard.

I am so thankful I got to listen and speak with these three insanely awesome women. Each of them came from such different backgrounds with different careers but they were all so passionate about what they do. I had an amazing time in Iowa City for Flyover Fashion Fest and hope to be back next year.

Stay tuned in the coming days for some Flyover Fashion Fest street style inspiration.
See my recap and outfit from day one here.

I have been wanting to wear this outfit ever since I received it in the mail. This jacket and shorts set is from the Victoria Beckham X Target designer collaboration; one of my all time favorite Target collabs. I paired it with a graphic tee and canvas sneakers for a street wear look. I felt confident in this and got many compliments!

Flyover Fashion Fest 2017 – Day 1

Hello from Iowa City, Iowa!!! This is my first time here and I absolutely love the atmosphere. I am in Iowa City this weekend attending Flyover Fashion Fest! Flyover Fashion Fest is a two-day event involving tons of fashion talent, public speakers, activists, musicians and so much more.

Last night there was an outdoor fashion show featuring two designers; Hannah Eckley and Nicole Leth of Sex + Ice Cream.

Make it all the way through this post to see my Flyover Fashion Fest outfit!

Hannah Eckley, from Iowa BIG, opened the show. Her goal is to make women of all shapes and sizes look beautiful and feel confident. I loved her color palette and patterns and it was obvious that the models were having a blast!

I have been obsessed with Nicole Leth of Sex + Ice Cream for such a long time, when I found out she would be showing at Flyover I got so excited! Nicole is all about girl power and being confident. Everything she creates is bright and fun, just like her. She is such a sweetheart and talented individual who genuinely cares about others. I can’t wait to see what is in store for her! I featured one of her pieces in an older blog post, here.

I had such a blast last night I can’t wait for the busy day ahead of me today! Stay tuned for a recap to be posted tomorrow!

AND!! Get excited for a Flyover Fashion Fest street style post coming soon! People have seriously good and unique style here.

I wanted to keep this look pretty sleek and simple (okay, not going to lie, the drive was long and I was way too tired to put a super cute outfit together). I’ve had this denim top for a long time but I never wear it so I decided to throw it on! Since the top and skirt are both pretty structured, this outfit looks more professional.

Derby Darling

As the 143rd Kentucky Derby is quickly approaching, I thought it would be fun to do a Derby inspired look. Going to this has been on my bucket list forever and will continue to stay there until I get to go…someday.

This pastel blue dress is the perfect dress for the occasion. It is a beautiful color for spring and I love the mix of ruffles and lace. PLUS- it is on sale for under $30 here!!! I paired it with simple white strappy heels and OF COURSE, a big, beautiful hat! I wanted the hat to match the shoes and this white one was perfect. I am honestly not a fan of hats but it was a Derby necessity so I had to. At the end, I actually loved how the hat looked!

Also- I got to shoot with a new photographer, Emily Steele! This woman is so talented and hilarious she was making me laugh during our entire shoot. Stay tuned for more looks that we shot coming soon. Check out her Facebook page, here, and her website, here.

April 2017 Favorites

Some of my favorite things to watch on YouTube are monthly favorites videos so I thought, why not start doing my own monthly favorites here on my blog! I have decided to post one of these at the end of every month featuring some of my favorite things.

The month of April has honestly been so stressful but only 3 more finals and I am done with my freshman year of college. This summer is going to be the busiest summer of my life; a good kind of busy. I have an internship with local Kansas City fashion blogger and stylist, Melanie Knopke (aka – KC Style Scout) and I’ll be working at (hopefully) a retail store (will confirm where soon :)). I plan on making couple of trips around the country this summer and have an insane amount of upcoming projects and blog posts…get excited.

This month, I retired my old black on black Tommy Hilfiger aviators for a new pair of black on black aviators from BP. I know, really changing things up. I love these sunglasses so much and they were only $12. I can’t imagine spending a large amount of money on my everyday shades just because of how clumsy I can be. You can purchase a similar pair here.

One of my favorite clothing items this April was definitely my pink surplice bodysuit that I purchased at Etiquette Boutique. Similar version can be purchased here. I have worn this so many times, so many various ways. It’s soft, comfortable and actually fits my super tall self. I featured it in a blog post earlier this month, here.

My other favorite clothing item of the month is this denim romper. I purchased this at Cha Boutique in downtown Columbia, MO on super clearance and I am in love with it. It’s such a fun piece and also very comfortable, which is important to me. Also, it has pockets and you can’t go wrong with pockets. I styled it on my blog the other day, here.

I have three makeup products that I have been obsessing over recently. First, the MicroSmooth Baked Luminizer from the Sephora Collection is, to me, the BEST way to highlight your cheekbones. It’s also decently priced for how good it is. Second, I love and swear by the Melted Matte Lipstick from Too Faced in the color “Child Star”. It’s the perfect warm toned nude color and the product itself is not drying but still lasts forever. Last, but definitely not least, I love the Better than Sex Mascara from Too Faced. Everyone and their mother talks so highly about this product and I didn’t see why until I tried it out. It’s like wearing falsies!

Processed with VSCO with a6 presetI am in LOVE with BootayBag! BootayBag is a monthly underwear subscription service. For only $12 a month, you get two pairs of super cute panties. I got my first package and I love this company- so cute and comfortable. AND – every picture posted on Instagram with the hashtag, #undermatters, BootayBag will donate $1 to the Melanoma Foundation. This is an awesome company with an amazing goal. Click here to get your first bag!

I am obsessed with these chokers from Mary Kathryn Designs. She is a jewelry designer out of Alabama and has the cutest things! I found her on Instagram and fell in love with everything she creates. These chokers are great layering pieces, which is something I’ve been doing a lot lately. Shop her etsy store here and check out her website, here!

Last but not least, my favorite show this month is Girl Boss!!! Girl Boss is about how Sophia Amoruso started Nasty Gal on eBay and turned it into something huge. I binge watched the whole first season in a day (not even kidding). It is the perfect amount of everything you would look for in a show and more. I honestly felt inspired by it to be my own girl boss. 10/10 recommend.

Thanks so much for reading this longer post, I had a lot of fun writing it! I hope to have one of these out on the last day of every month. Stay tuned on my blog for lots of content coming soon. The month of May is going to be crazy!

Palazzo Pants

Hi hi! So, I’ve worn this exact outfit already a million times but there is no photo proof so I decided to blog about it! I bought this top and these super cool pants at Zara when I was in Las Vegas last summer. Luckily, flare pants are still in so I can keep wearing them while also being trendy. These pants are so loud and have a lot going on so I wanted to keep my top simple; don’t want to be too too extra. It’s such a comfortable, bohemian look.

These pants are so Coachella-esque, they make me so sad I’m not there. I plan on doing some festival inspired outfits this summer as well so keep checking back for more!

Banker Stripe

I have always been pretty iffy about spending money on current trends but I really do love this blue and white stripe trend. I bought this blouse at Marshalls one day so it was decently inexpensive but still trendy and up-to-date. I paired this top with some of my favorite black distressed jeans and signature black booties (I’ll have to retire these soon sadly but it is getting so warm).

Earth Day Overalls

Happy Earth Day!!🌎

I wanted to post something more fun and outdoorsy for today. This denim romper is so comfortable, I love it so much; and it’s ON SALE HERE!!! – who doesn’t love a good sale. I think pairing an off the shoulder top with some dungarees is super unique way to show some skin.

Earth Day is so important and is also a good excuse for us inside people, to go outside and enjoy some fresh air. These pictures were taken while I was in Eureka Springs, Arkansas last weekend at one of the many scenic overlooks.

After reading this go spend the day outside!!
