Lee Jeans X Boulevardia 2017

This past weekend I was invited to Boulevardia in Kansas City by Lee Jeans! If you don’t know, Boulevardia is a festival that celebrates music, food, and Boulevard Beer; hence the name. This isn’t a normal blog post for me but I wanted to share some images from this day with Lee!

Since I was attending this event with Lee Jeans, I felt like I should represent them by wearing a pair of their awesome denim! Although it was ridiculously hot, these jeans put my festival look together! I am wearing the Eu Lee – Scarlett High Rise Skinny Jeans in the color Charcoal Powder. I am almost six feet tall (surprise for those who have not met me in person) so I got the length in a 35 and they are PERFECT! – finally, jeans that are long enough!

Accessorizing this outfit was my favorite part! Since my outfit was all black I wanted an intense contrast by pairing lighter colored shoes and a white bandana around my neck!

Lee Jeans was one of the festival’s sponsors and they were celebrating 100 years in Kansas City! I got to hang out in their tent all day with, Lee team member, Janelle McCoy, and my guest, and close fashion friend, Brooke Robertson. Lee had some fun games inside the tent along with a station where you could get custom designs on your denim to benefit Rightfully Sewn!

It was an amazing Saturday spent in the Stockyards District in Kansas City with Lee Jeans. We got to enjoy some great live music on the main stage and even in the parking garage due to the storm; something I will not forget. I am so thankful to have had this opportunity and can’t wait to collaborate with Lee Jeans in the near future!

Girl in Gingham

Staying true to my style is so important to me because I never want to display something that I’m not. I wouldn’t say that I have a defined style but do I tend to wear either edgy clothing or bohemian the most. These are probably the most difficult styles to incorporate into a professional outfit but it is doable!

This top and skirt combo works perfectly because the ruffle details in both pieces bring them together. This top is most definitely not something I would normally see and love but once I paired it with this whole outfit I changed my mind. Not only am I keeping with the current trends by wearing a gingham patter, but I am keeping true to my personal style by pairing this outfit with these pink cutout booties. The shoes add some edge and totally spice up this look, making it more fun and more me.

Feminine Floral

Hey everyone! I have been eyeing this two piece set for a while from the store I work at, Etiquette Boutique, and finally decided that I needed to purchase it. Sets are so much fun and you get at least three different outfits out of them when you mix and match the pieces. I paired these booties with it because they were the exact shade of pink as the flowers in the set! I love this look and can’t wait to style it in many different ways!

Also, I will be going to Kansas City Chiefs player, Travis Kelce’s, charity fashion show in a few days with my work family representing Etiquette Boutique! Be sure to follow along on my Instagram @bellalightner.

Rich Apparels X RayGun 2017

Hey! I had the pleasure of attending the Rich Apparels launch event at RayGun at First Fridays in Kansas City the other day. Four of the shirts from the new Rich Apparels collection became available at RayGun the other day and the whole collection launched online today, here!

Rich Apparels was started, by designer Roosevelt, in 2014. He started this clothing brand to help kids who are picked on for being less fortunate. His goal was to create clothing that gives people confidence and to inspire them to chase their dreams and turn them into realities.

“Being rich to me is feeling confident, not taking ‘no’ as an answer, and spreading love and positivity.” Rich Apparels ignores social norms and stands for diversity.

Snakeskin Summer

Happy June!!

Hey everyone, I know it has been a hot second since I’ve posted on my actual blog but it has been so difficult lately to find time to shoot! I finally had a free day and my blogger bestie Brooke and I got to squeeze in a quick photoshoot.

Right when H&M launched their most recent ad campaign I knew that I needed these snakeskin print shorts. They are so much fun and pretty out there so I paired them with a plain white top and white booties. I think that keeping the rest of the outfit simple really helps to focus on the trendy shorts.

I have a couple of blog posts lined up for this month so stay tuned. You can sign up for my emails or, if you don’t already, follow my Instagram account, @bellalightner, to keep up with my daily life!

Festival Fashion Series 2017 – 3/3

Here is the final look of my festival fashion series! These feather hem vintage Levi’s were the jeans that inspired this series. I found these at my favorite buy, sell, trade store, Arizona Trading Company- where I find all of my unique pieces. I paired them with this white lace crop top that I bought literally five years ago from Topshop. It’s one of my favorite tops and I knew they were the perfect match for the jeans.

I hope you all enjoyed this festival fashion series, I had so much fun putting these outfits together. I’m just sad that I’m not going to any festivals anytime soon!

In case you miss them…. Part 1 and Part 2.

Festival Fashion Series 2017 – 2/3

This is the second part of my festival fashion series and probably my favorite look out of the three. I bought this white flowy midi dress at Free People on clearance this past Winter and have been impatiently waiting for the weather to warm up to shoot it for Summer! It is so unique in every way; from the uneven hem, the side crochet cut outs, and the seashells on the end of the drawstrings. This dress is definitely one of my favorite pieces.

Since this dress is so airy and feminine, of course I had to contradict that by pairing it with some heavy, chunky platform sandals and a studded hat. I don’t think it is too much of a contrast to look bad but, just enough to look good. As much as I love these Jeffrey Campbell shoes, I feel like I don’t feature them as much as I should. They are so unique with the gold lion medallion that I couldn’t find a similar alternative 😦 (Okay affordable alternative…Versace is the designer to rely on for lion head medallions).

Stay tuned for the third look of this series coming soon!

Festival Fashion 2017 Series – 1/3

Festival season is well upon us and everyone loves festival fashion so I am going to do a three part music festival style inspired series! I am unfortunately not going to any huge music festivals as of now but I’m maybe hoping to attend a smaller one sometime this Summer.

For this look, my top and bottoms are basic but I threw on a bunch of accessories and a statement kimono. Fringe is definitely a huge trend within festival fashion and this kimono is perfect for lots of movement! I shot some with and without it because I liked the simplistic look underneath as well.

This is the perfect outdoor concert outfit. I actually wore it this past Tuesday to see The 1975! It was such a good show and I was comfortable and felt cute in this outfit the whole time. Also side note- these shorts to me at first were so ugly but now I am in love with how vintage they look + they were only $1 at a thrift store!!!

Be sure to follow me to be notified when the next two outfits of this series are up!

Flyover Fashion Fest 2017 – Day 2

Hey all! So Flyover Fashion Fest Day two was even better than day one! There were tons of different events happening all throughout the day and I managed to attend a couple without completely wearing myself out. Iowa Fashion Project brought in some seriously successful and talented individuals.

I got the amazing opportunity to go to three discussions throughout this day. First I heard Marissa Muller, editor at Conde Nast, speak on politics in the fashion industry. She brought up so many good points that people often look past. Next, former head art director at Nasty Gal, Sarah Kissel, came and talked about her journey from the Midwest to the Coasts. This woman has so much experience and is an incredible graphic designer and director. Last, but most definitely not least, activist and journalist, Noor Tagouri, spoke on fashion identity and told her life story. No matter what your beliefs are, this woman will make you smile and inspire you. She is so kind-hearted and down to earth (and also hilarious). She is an advocate for all women and people and wants their stories to be heard.

I am so thankful I got to listen and speak with these three insanely awesome women. Each of them came from such different backgrounds with different careers but they were all so passionate about what they do. I had an amazing time in Iowa City for Flyover Fashion Fest and hope to be back next year.

Stay tuned in the coming days for some Flyover Fashion Fest street style inspiration.
See my recap and outfit from day one here.

I have been wanting to wear this outfit ever since I received it in the mail. This jacket and shorts set is from the Victoria Beckham X Target designer collaboration; one of my all time favorite Target collabs. I paired it with a graphic tee and canvas sneakers for a street wear look. I felt confident in this and got many compliments!

Flyover Fashion Fest 2017 – Day 1

Hello from Iowa City, Iowa!!! This is my first time here and I absolutely love the atmosphere. I am in Iowa City this weekend attending Flyover Fashion Fest! Flyover Fashion Fest is a two-day event involving tons of fashion talent, public speakers, activists, musicians and so much more.

Last night there was an outdoor fashion show featuring two designers; Hannah Eckley and Nicole Leth of Sex + Ice Cream.

Make it all the way through this post to see my Flyover Fashion Fest outfit!

Hannah Eckley, from Iowa BIG, opened the show. Her goal is to make women of all shapes and sizes look beautiful and feel confident. I loved her color palette and patterns and it was obvious that the models were having a blast!

I have been obsessed with Nicole Leth of Sex + Ice Cream for such a long time, when I found out she would be showing at Flyover I got so excited! Nicole is all about girl power and being confident. Everything she creates is bright and fun, just like her. She is such a sweetheart and talented individual who genuinely cares about others. I can’t wait to see what is in store for her! I featured one of her pieces in an older blog post, here.

I had such a blast last night I can’t wait for the busy day ahead of me today! Stay tuned for a recap to be posted tomorrow!

AND!! Get excited for a Flyover Fashion Fest street style post coming soon! People have seriously good and unique style here.

I wanted to keep this look pretty sleek and simple (okay, not going to lie, the drive was long and I was way too tired to put a super cute outfit together). I’ve had this denim top for a long time but I never wear it so I decided to throw it on! Since the top and skirt are both pretty structured, this outfit looks more professional.
